Sweet cherries ripen in June and July. The fruits are large, firm and glossy, with dark red to almost black skin and juicy, sweet flesh.
Picked with stems and pre-cooled immediately after harvest, they reach European markets within 24–48 hours in refrigerated transport.
Sour cherries, led by the Łutówka variety, are harvested in July and August. They have an intense ruby colour, juicy flesh and a refreshing acidity.
They are a favourite raw material for bakeries, dairies and the drinks industry, and are also sold fresh on retail markets.
